What a stunning place to live or to work with everyday. Times flies really quick! It's already been 4 month since the first day i started my training and FINALLY I get to work in other department soon!
Few days ago when one of my friend and I had this discussion about work. Friend said to me that she does not want her current job takes out her whole life. her job has been really demanding. Then she started to asked me a question: "Hey, do you really like your current job? Are you enjoying it? What if 1 day you find out this job is taking more and more your personal time, will you still like it?"
I did not know how to respond her at that moment. I started to think if I really like the job or not. I really like the job when I serve the guest and built a relationship with the guest. I enjoy the time when I was assigned to look after certain guest in particular. Perhaps because I like to help the guest and built a relationship with them. However, I often received a comment that I have been 'too quiet' or not outgoing enjoy to work in this position. That's when the time i start thinking "Really!? Do i really have to be an outgoing person to work in this industry!? Cant I just be a caring person and be sociable when is needed in order to gain satisfaction!? I gain satisfaction when they were happy with my help. For me, nothing is better when a guest just thank you for the hospitality at the end of the day. it is the fact that they happy with what i did for them that matters.
There were 4 foreign guest came for visit, I was assigned to taking care of them and to bring them around for the site inspection. To be honest, I enjoyed the time when I accompany them to everywhere although it was so cold and a lot of 'traveling'. As I start talking to them more in small groups, I started to get to know them more. I was surprise when the guest can even remember my name. well, I guest now I know how important it is for people to remember others name. haha. The guests for friendly and casual. after the site inspection, I brought them to the golf driving range and allow them to play golf enjoy among themselves. After a while, the gold course receptionist called to the hotel and asked for me. I was surprised that the guest called for me because they wanted me to help them organize things. During the whole day, although it sounds like I became their butler, i had a great feeling. Because i know the guest trusted me with my hospitality service. right before I left after the site inspection, the guest was like "Flora, thank you for hospitality, I will come and see you before I leave" I was happy because guests happy with my service =)
I end up staying back just to wait for them to check out and say good bye. Although it was a long working day with over time..and yes it did took out part of my personal time..(if it's not because of them, i could of gone to the city area and found my friends for dinner!) but somehow i really enjoyed my work for today. yes, i am a quiet girl, but doesnt mean the i can be a good host in the resort.
